talking about SiteGround. So if you’re interested in
making a WordPress website, you’ll actually need three things. You’ll need a website name,
which is a domain URL. You’ll need web hosting, which is what we’re looking at today. And then you’ll need WordPress,
which is the software or CMS. Now WordPress is free, but
in order for your website to be live on the internet,
that’s where web hosting and a domain URL comes into play. Now when it comes to web hosting companies there are literally dozens
of them on the internet. But the best place to start is from themselves. Here we are on
looking at their official recommendations. As you can see here,
there are three companies. Bluehost, DreamHost and SiteGround. Now SiteGround is the main
focus of our video today and we’ll be comparing
SiteGround to both DreamHost, Bluehost and much more,
including Hostgator and GoDaddy, which you probably heard of before. Now being on this WordPress
official recommended list is a great sign for any
web host if you’re looking to create a WordPress
website specifically. Because this means that
these web hosting companies work with WordPress to maintain compliance and compatibility and also just makes sure that the performance is more optimized for using and creating WordPress website. Now, let’s look at the performance of each of these top WordPress
web hosting companies. And here we actually
created an infographic to show you the different
tiers of performance levels. In Tier 3, which is average
performance we have DreamHost, Hostgator and GoDaddy. For these companies, they
are typical shared hosting, which means you have
multiple customers sharing a single server. Also companies in this
tier are not WordPress recommended, except for
DreamHost as we just saw. And typically for average
performance you get what you pay for and the prices vary
from cheap to actually the most expensive which is GoDaddy and we’ll look at
pricing in just a second. Now in Tier 2 you see
SiteGround and Bluehost, which have fast performance
for a WordPress website. Both of these are official
WordPress recommended web hosts. Their servers use SSDs,
which are solid state drives for faster speeds and
both of these companies are optimized for WordPress specifically. And in Tier 1, which is the
fastest possible performance, we have Kinsta and WP Engine. These are managed hosting
using cloud computing, generally via Google cloud platform. Managed hosting means
that you have technicians who are optimizing your
servers specifically for your WordPress website. These technicians do things
to reach optimal levels of performance such as
caching and using CDNs or Content Delivery
Networks and the nice thing about managed hosting is you
don’t have to worry about any performance or secure the issues because it’s all taking care of for you. Now this performance comes at a price as these web hosts are
also the most expensive, starting at $29 per month on average. But with this price, they’re
also infinitely scalable. So if your website goes
from having 10,000 visits per month to 10 million visits per month, they’re able to handle it
but you will be upgraded to a much more expensive plan. All right, to sum up the performance, you can see that SiteGround
right here is in a nice middle ground between
managed hosting from Kinsta WP Engine and also being much faster and also begin significantly faster than HostGator and GoDaddy. Head-to-head SiteGround is
slightly faster than Bluehost as well, now the next category we’re going to look at is pricing. Because pricing is one of
the most important things to look at when you’re on a budget. So here we have Tier 3, which
is generally the cheapest web hosting, starting
at just $2.59 a month and up to $2.95 a month. Hostgator starts at $2.65 a month, but again you get what you pay
for because performance wise, Hostgator is in Tier 3,
with average performance and they’re also not a
WordPress recommended web host. Bluehost on the other hand,
is an official WordPress recommended web host and they
start at just $2.95 a month. DreamHost is the cheapest web host here and they start at $2.59 a
month but they’re missing a key feature which is business email. If you want to have a custom email address that has your [email protected]
or your website Then you want to have a business email, which is included with
most of these web hosts. If you want to add the
business email to DreamHost it actually brings up the
price to $4.26 a month, which would actually bump
DreamHost up to Tier 2. Now here in Tier 2, it’s
a range of $3.95 a month to $6.99 a month. Luckily SiteGround starts
at that $3.95 a month. However, one thing to note with SiteGround is you will have to pay for a domain because they do not
offer a free domain URL. When you sign up for
SiteGround the domain costs $15.95 a year, which comes
out to about $1.32 a month. Next we have GoDaddy, which
starts at $6.99 a month, which is quite expensive
compared to the rest, especially when you
consider the performance of GoDaddy is just in Tier 3,
which is average performance. Lastly, we have Tier 1, which
is our fastest performing managed web hosting and these
start at $29 to $30 a month. As you can see that’s significantly
more than Tiers 3 and 2. But at the same time you
do get the piece of mind because you don’t have to
worry about any security or performance issues with your web hosting slowing you down. WP Engine starts at $29 a
month, Kinsa starts at $30 a month but as far as
performance is concerned, head-to-head Kinsta is
faster than WP Engine. All right, so now that
we’ve looked at both price and performance, SiteGround
really is a great value when it comes to WordPress web hosting. It’s not quite as expensive
as managed hosting but at the same time the
performance is a nice middle ground between managed hosting and the average performance web host. And at the end of the day
it is officially WordPress recommended so you can
have the peace of mind that if you’re going to
create a WordPress website, SiteGround is going to be
optimized and compatible with WordPress. All right, so now we’re going to look at the individual pricing plans and choose the best overall
value for your needs. One important note before we get started is that Website Helper
has partnership links with the top web hosting
companies in the industry. Now some of these links
may save you up to 33% off and we’ll be featuring
the links on our website and also in the video description below. Using these links can only save you money and never add to your costs. And in return, we may
receive a commission. So if you want to access
this special pricing make sure you click the link
in the description below or access it via So here we see, we have
the StartUp, GrowBig and GoGeek plans. Now StartUp starts at $3.95
a month, special price. The regular pricing is $11.95 a month. With the StartUp plan,
you can create one website you get 10 GB of web space and
up to 10,000 visits monthly. This plan is perfect for
people who are on a budget and if you know that you only
want to create one website and you don’t want to create
a second maybe a third or a fourth website then
$3.95 for the performance that you’re going to get,
including these features such as the top notch 24/7
tech support, free SSL, which means that you’re
going to have a website that’s secure and encrypted. You get free business email accounts, so you can actually put
your [email protected] You get free Cloud Flare CDN,
which is one of the things that managed hosting like
Kinsa And WP Engine do in order to increase their
performance and security and you actually get that
at this $3.95 a month plan. Now moving on to their recommended plan, which is the GrowBig. The GrowBig is $5.95 a month and you get unlimited websites. So yes, just for $2 more
than the startup plan, you can create unlimited websites. This means that if you
come up with another idea for another website,
maybe another website name or another website that has
to do with a different niche or a different industry
or maybe it’s for your personal brand, than
this is a great option. And most people who
create their first website they end up coming up with more ideas and creating a second or a
third or a fourth website. So it’s just $2 extra
compared to the StartUp plan, this right here is a great value. $5.95 a month, regular
price of $19.95 a month. You get 20 GB of webspace,
which is plenty online because the things that are
going to take up the most space are probably images and
even then you can compress images down to size where
they’re only going to take up maybe 100 Kbs each and then
you have 25,000 visits monthly. Now in addition to all
the essential features that the StartUp plan comes
with, you’ll also get these premium features as well. So the premium features
include free site transfer by our experts. So if you use any of the
other web hosting companies like Bluehost or Hostgator or GoDaddy, you get a free site transfer. Super Cacher for great
speed, again caching is one of the things that the managed hosting, such as Kinsa and WB Engine use in order to optimize their speeds. You actually get that
at just $5.95 a month. And you also get advance on demand backup, which means you can
restore your website simply and easily giving you
further peace of mind. Now the GoGeek plan,
which is $11.95 a month, with the special price, regular
price of $34.95 a month, you can create unlimited websites, you get 30 GB of webspace
and a 100,000 visits monthly. You get all the essential
and premium features of the StartUp and the GrowBig plan and then you also get
Geeky features as well. These features include
advanced priority support, that means if you have anything
wrong with your website and you need to contact an expert, you will get bumped up
to the front of the list. You get the highest tier
of server resources. So although you’re still
using shared hosting where there’s multiple
customers per server, you get priority when it comes to a single server’s resources. Now the GoGeek plan is
a great plan for people who are expected heavy web traffic. Because 100,000 visits per
month is a lot of traffic and most people would be lucky to even hit 10,000 visits a month. Now our recommendation for most people, which would be the best overall
value is the GrowBig plan right here because at just $5.95 a month, you get unlimited websites and you also get features,
which are featured in the managed hosting that
starts at $29-$30 a month, such as Cloud Flare CDN and
SuperCacher for great speed. So now we’re just going
to quickly get started with SiteGround and walk you
through the sign up process. So I’m going to go with
the GrowBig plan right here and I’m going to click GetPlan. Now I’ve mentioned before
that you will need to purchase a domain at $15.95 a year. Now if you already have a
domain you check this box and you can transfer your domain over or point it towards your
SiteGround web hosting servers if you buy a domain on
GoDaddy or Namecheap. Or if you don’t have a website name yet you can look one up see what’s available right here in this box. All right, so once you find
a domain that’s available it’ll say congratulations
and all you have to do is fill out your account information. Now when it comes to the
purchase information, you can see here that the hosting price is $5.95 a month for a 12-month period. This brings your total bill to $71.40 but you get one whole entire calender year of web hosting. This means that you get a
website for an entire year for just $71 and remember
we’re doing the GrowBig plan, which means unlimited websites for $71. One things I like about
SiteGround that makes it a great value is other
web hosting companies will actually charge you more if you don’t do the 36-month plan. The way it works with
other web hosting companies is that they charge you
a dollar per month more if you choose less months. So for example if we
were to go from 36 months to 12 months then that
price would actually go up to around $7 or $8.95 per month. But luckily with SiteGround, even with just the
12-month plan you still get that $5.95 a month price as advertised. Now when it comes to extra services you can see domain
registration is included and you have the option of
getting these two services domain privacy and SG site scanner. Only extra service I recommend that you get is Domain Privacy. Domain Privacy is something
that protects your personal information because for
anyone who registers a domain name your personal information such as your name and your
address becomes publicly available through the Who Is services. This is required by law
but when you sign up for domain privacy protection,
it actually scrambles your name and your address. So it actually points to
SiteGround’s company and address. So at $12 a year or $1
per month, I do recommend you get the domain privacy protection and all in all we get everything and unlimited websites for an entire year for less than $100. That’s why I think this
is the best overall value for beginners. Once you’ve filled out your information, click Pay Now and we can start
building a WordPress website. Once you sign up for
SiteGround, installing WordPress is as easy as clicking a few buttons. So, you set up your new hosting account and you choose Start A New
Website and then you’re going to use WordPress for
the software to install. Then all you have to do
is set your admin email, your username and a password. Make sure that you remember your username and password because this is what we’re going to use to lock in to
our WordPress installation. After you’ve chosen those things, just click Confirm and
WordPress will be installed. After you have WordPress installed, head over to and choose the website
setup on the top navigation. In our step-by-step WordPress tutorial we’re going to show you
exactly how to navigate throughout WordPress’ dashboard, how to install a new theme,
how to install plugins, how to secure your website
and also maximize performance all for free. So make sure you check
out that step-by-step tutorial, we’ll also include
a link in this video’s description below. And that’s it. This wraps up our SiteGround review for WordPress web hosting. As you can see it is
a great overall value. It is an official WordPress
recommended web host and when it comes to
price and performance, it also presents a very
good value proposition, especially for beginners. You can have unlimited
websites with features that are featured on
web hosts such as Kinset and WP Engine that cost five times as much for a fraction of the cost. And you can have all
this for less than $100 for an entire year. If you enjoyed this
